Temporary Rf Design Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary RF Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary RF Design Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, expertise in RF circuit design, and familiarity with wireless communication standards, often supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency in tools like Cadence, ADS, HFSS, and spectrum analyzers, along with knowledge of simulation software, is typically required. Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills help you collaborate effectively and adapt to project demands. These abilities ensure efficient design, troubleshooting, and timely delivery of high-quality RF solutions in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

What is the difference between Temporary Rf Design Engineer vs RF Design Engineer?

AspectTemporary Rf Design EngineerRF Design Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, RF certificationsBachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering, RF certifications
Work EnvironmentContract-based, project-specificFull-time, ongoing projects
Industry UsageTemporary staffing for telecom, defensePermanent roles in wireless, telecom companies

The main difference is that a Temporary Rf Design Engineer works on short-term, project-based assignments, often through staffing agencies, while an RF Design Engineer typically holds a permanent position with ongoing responsibilities. Both roles require similar qualifications, but their employment nature and duration differ.

What are some typical challenges faced by Temporary RF Design Engineers, and how can they adapt quickly to new projects?

Temporary RF Design Engineers often encounter challenges such as rapidly acclimating to unfamiliar project requirements, integrating with existing teams, and understanding unique client specifications. To succeed, it's important to quickly review project documentation, establish clear communication with team members, and leverage previous experience to troubleshoot issues efficiently. Adaptability, strong technical fundamentals, and proactive problem-solving are key qualities that help temporary engineers deliver results within tight timelines.

What are Temporary RF Design Engineers?

Temporary RF Design Engineers are professionals who are hired on a short-term or contract basis to design, test, and optimize radio frequency (RF) systems and components. Their work typically involves tasks such as creating RF circuit layouts, performing simulations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. They may work in industries like telecommunications, aerospace, or consumer electronics, and often collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver functional prototypes or products. Their temporary status means they are usually brought in to address specific project needs or to provide specialized expertise for a limited duration.

Lead Electrical Engineer - RF Body Coils

Gehc

Florence, SC

Full-time

Re-posted 25 days ago

Job description

Job Description SummaryLead Electrical & RF (Radiofrequency) Coil Engineer - MRI
Location: Florence, SC
Relocation Benefits: Competitive relocation package available
Why this role matters
At GE HealthCare, we build technology that helps clinicians see more, know more, and do more-so patients can get the care they need, when it matters most. In this role, you'll help advance MRI performance and patient outcomes by designing and improving RF coil and transmit chain components that are central to image quality, reliability, and serviceability. Your work will directly influence the safety, consistency, and accessibility of MRI scanning for patients around the world.
We're looking for a Lead Electrical & RF Coil Engineer who brings strong electrical/RF fundamentals, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset. If you enjoy solving meaningful problems with supportive, cross functional partners-and want room to grow technically and as a leader-this could be a great fit.
We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every preferred qualification. Many successful candidates bring a blend of experiences, and we value potential, learning agility, and teamwork.
Role overview
The Electrical & RF Coil Engineer for MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) understands the function and design of RF circuits, RF electronics, and antennas-and applies that knowledge to design high power body transmit/receive coils and low power receive only coils. As a Lead Engineer, you will design and implement RF solutions that optimize cost, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of the final product. You will develop new component and product designs for the RF Body Coil and Transmit Chain components, and you will also own and maintain parts of the existing installed base.Job Description

What you will do (key responsibilities)

You will contribute across the full product lifecycle-partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and field teams to deliver robust designs.

  • Design and develop RF electrical components and interconnects for MRI body coils, spanning both highpower and lowpower applications.
  • Perform design and analysis of RF transmit/receive components and printed circuit board (PCB) elements (e.g., birdcage antenna structures, circuit boards).
  • Use RF and electromagnetic (EM) simulation and design tools to create efficient, reliable, and manufacturable designs.
  • Use PCB design software to create circuit boards intended for RF applications.
  • Engage in all phases of new product development, including: concept development, architecture, documentation, detailed design, prototyping, testing, cost considerations, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction, and service support.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure product performance, quality, reliability, and smooth integration into the broader MRI system.
  • Participate in-and when needed, lead-prototype build activities to ensure builds align with design intent; recommend design experiments and tests to validate performance and drive improvements.
  • Tackle complex, sometimes ambiguous technical challenges by performing troubleshooting (bench level and system level) across multiple variables to identify root cause and implement lasting solutions.
  • Support field issues through troubleshooting and rootcause investigation to help drive timely problem resolution and improve the installed base experience.
  • Develop robust designs for new or existing products that can be produced economically and aligned to established project timelines.
  • Provide creative, practical solutions to unstructured product and system design issues raised by both factory and field partners.
  • Study key component interactions (e.g., magnet / gradient / body coil) within MRI systems and propose solutions that improve overall system performance.

What success looks like

  • You deliver designs that balance performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability-and you communicate tradeoffs clearly.
  • You build strong partnerships across disciplines and help teams move forward with clarity and shared ownership.
  • You bring structure to complex problems-using data, testing, and simulation to guide decisions.
  • You contribute to a culture where people feel respected, supported, and empowered to do their best work.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree).
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design and/or circuit board (PCB) design.
  • Experience using electrical circuit and/or EM (electromagnetic) simulation tools.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Electrical CAD software (e.g., Cadence) and computational/simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, XFdtd).
  • Working understanding of MRI fundamentals, RF coil design, and electromagnetics.
  • Experience with MRI system operation.
  • Experience with numerical analysis tools and optimization methods.
  • Handson hardware experience with mechanical systems and components.
  • Comfort collaborating with crossfunctional, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills (this can be through technical leadership, mentoring, project ownership, or informal team leadership).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
