Position Summary:

The Research Associate (Cell Biology & Immunology) will support Discovery Life Sciencesโ€™ mission by contributing to the development, validation, and execution of novel cell biology, immunology, and hematopoietic toxicity assays, working with human biospecimens and stateoftheart laboratory technologies. The ideal candidate is a detailoriented, collaborative scientist with handson experience in mammalian cell culture and immunological techniques, eager to expand technical expertise while supporting multidisciplinary research teams.ย 

A Day in the Life of a Research Associate at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Execute and support laboratory assays by performing cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, colony forming cell (CFC) assays, and other hematological toxicity and immunological
  • Contribute to assay development and validation with multistep experimental protocols, troubleshooting issues, documenting results, and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
  • Collaborate across teams by participating in project meetings, providing data updates to management, and working closely with colleagues in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in biological sciences, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • Proven laboratory experience preferred, including, but not limited to, human biospecimen processing, flow cytometry, ELISA and general mammalian cell culture.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task and work in a multidisciplinary team environment, under guidance and supervision.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to do general lab calculations.
  • Ability to learn, understand, plan and execute multi-step experimental protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow established experimental protocols and master new techniques.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office โ€“ Word, Excel, and Outlook), able to effectively maintain written and computer records.
  • Working knowledge of universal precautions and handling of human specimens.
  • Independent research experience, in addition to college lab experience, is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute on assigned laboratory projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work inclusively and in collaboration with a diverse population.
  • Ability to use a standard light microscope.
  • Able to manage multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Operate flow cytometry instrumentation.
  • Perform colony forming cell (CFC) assay and other hematological toxicity and function assays.
  • Perform other immunological assays, including, but not limited to, ELISA.
  • Problem resolution, problem solving/critical thinking.
  • Assist in assay development and validation.
  • Help review and maintain Laboratory SOPs.
  • Present project updates to management and present academic papers internally.
  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing of raw materials.
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the company interacts.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the company and its operations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $27-$33 per hour. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidateโ€™s offer letter. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. Your annual salary is only one part of your total compensation package. Other benefits include:
