Job description

Overview
Responsible for transportation of trucks and trailers around the plant grounds. These employees move trailers that are being loaded with product and rendering raw materials. Drivers will also maintain and service all transportation equipment at the Plant. Drivers maintain and ensure that all refrigeration equipment on trailers is operating correctly and at the correct temperature. Some drivers may transport livestock to and from temporary holding pens. All drivers must follow all federal and state government health, safety, and environmental standards. Drivers will be subject to DOT guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • May operate trucks to move cattle to and from temporary holding pens.
  • May operate trucks and equipment that transport rendering product.
  • Maintain compliance with all Federal DOT requirements, if applicable.
  • May maintain equipment used in various transportation processes.
  • May maintain refrigeration equipment used on tractor trailers.
  • May perform routine maintenance and cleaning on assigned transportation equipment.
  • May be involved in snow removal around the Plant when adverse weather conditions exist.
  • Must comply with all Company policies, code of conduct, and ethics programs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and repetitively.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to tolerate repetitive motions of the hand, wrist, arm, torso, and legs.
  • Must be able to tolerate hot/cold outdoor seasonal working conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate humid indoor working conditions up to 90°.
  • Must be able to work required shift schedules Monday - Sunday, and required overtime.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven / wet / slippery surfaces.
  • Must be able to use all required safety equipment.
  • Must be able to operate various transportation equipment such as tractor trailers, shag trucks, forklifts, pickups, and 5th wheel trailers.
  • If handling livestock, drivers must follow all humane livestock handling procedures and policies.

Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Requires 6 months of related work experience.
  • Experience in the beef industry preferred.
  • Experience operating industrial machinery preferred.
  • Class A CDL License is required.
  • Must be able to pass an MVR check on current driver's license.
