Title: Patient Transport Coordinator
Location: Indiana (Remote)
Duration: Long-term contract
Duties & Responsibilities
· Coordinate transportation resources for patients requiring movement between healthcare facilities, treatment settings, or community-based services.
· Assess transportation requirements based on patient condition, clinical needs, mobility limitations, equipment requirements, and level of care.
· Arrange and coordinate ground ambulance, air medical, wheelchair, stretcher, and other transportation services as appropriate.
· Communicate transportation plans, estimated arrival times, delays, and updates to referring facilities, receiving organizations, providers, and other stakeholders.
· Maintain awareness of available transportation resources, service capabilities, geographic coverage areas, and operational limitations.
· Prioritize transportation requests based on urgency, clinical need, resource availability, and established operational protocols.
· Monitor active transport and facilitate resolution of transport-related issues, delays, or barriers.
· Coordinate with Transfer Coordinators, healthcare providers, EMS agencies, and transportation vendors to support timely patient movement.
· Document transportation arrangements, communications, milestones, and outcomes within designated systems.
· Assist with surge operations, emergency response activities, and regional resource coordination efforts when activated.
· Identify process improvement opportunities and escalate operational concerns to leadership.
· Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and privacy standards.
· Deliver exceptional customer service to healthcare providers, transportation partners, and healthcare organizations.

· Knowledge of EMS, ambulance, and healthcare transportation operations.
· Ability to prioritize competing requests and rapidly adapt to changing conditions.

· Ability to build collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, EMS agencies, transportation vendors, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
· Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Three (3) years of experience in healthcare operations, EMS, emergency communications, transportation coordination, dispatch operations, patient access, patient logistics, or elated field.
· Experience coordinating multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency with technology systems, documentation platforms, and communication tools.
Preferred Qualifications
· Paramedic, Registered Nurse (RN), or other healthcare credential preferred.
· Familiarity with regional EMS systems, healthcare networks, and transportation resources.
· Experience using CAD, dispatch, transfer management, or healthcare logistics software.
· Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy requirements, and documentation
· standards.
