Job description

Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter for a leading mechanical contractor specializing in industrial mechanical installations, process piping, and production facility maintenance. This position is responsible for fabricating, fitting, assembling, and installing a variety of piping systems used in manufacturing, industrial, food-grade, and pharmaceutical environments. The ideal candidate has at least one (1) year of pipe fitting experience, can read blueprints and isometric drawings, and is committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, fit, and install process piping systems for industrial and manufacturing facilities.

  • Measure, cut, bevel, thread, fit, and assemble carbon steel, stainless steel, and other piping materials.

  • Install piping systems for:- Compressed air and compressed gases

    • Low and high-pressure steam systems
    • Condensate return systems
    • Chilled water and chilled water return systems
    • Chemical distribution systems
    • Wastewater piping
    • Food-grade process piping
  • Prepare pipe for welding by ensuring proper alignment, fit-up, and support.

  • Install valves, flanges, fittings, supports, pumps, tanks, boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and other mechanical equipment.

  • Assist with the installation of production machinery and related mechanical systems.

  • Perform repairs, modifications, and maintenance on existing piping systems.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and project specifications.

  • Ensure work complies with ASME, B31.3, cGMP, FDA, and company quality standards.

  • Work alongside welders, electricians, and maintenance personnel to complete projects efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while following OSHA and company safety policies.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Pipe Fitter experience required.
  • Experience in industrial, mechanical contracting, manufacturing, or process piping environments preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematics.
  • Experience fitting stainless steel and carbon steel pipe.
  • Knowledge of steam, condensate, compressed air, chilled water, chemical, and process piping systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with pumps, boilers, chillers, tanks, and other industrial mechanical equipment is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toed boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required safety equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in food-grade, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience preparing pipe for GTAW (TIG) welding.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 piping standards.
  • Experience with shutdowns, maintenance projects, and equipment installations.
