Position Mission

The Donor Communications Manager plays a vital leadership role within the Donor Communications team at FOCUS (The Fellowship of Catholic University Students). This position helps advance the mission of FOCUS by ensuring donors, missionaries, and staff receive timely, accurate, and mission-aligned communication and support regarding donations.

Reporting to the Director of Donor Communications, the Manager will lead daily operations, manage a team of Specialists and Sr. Specialists, and help develop efficient systems and workflows to better serve the FOCUS community. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, a builder of strong, scalable systems, and a proven team developer with a passion for service and operational excellence.

Position Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and support the professional growth of 3–4 direct reports
  • Cultivate a high-performing, mission-aligned team that consistently exceeds service expectations
  • Provide mentorship and accountability to help team members grow in both skill and spiritual maturity
  • Lead the team in the absence of the Director of Donor Communications when needed

Operations & System Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of donor support communications and data updates
  • Build and maintain clear, efficient systems and processes that drive excellence in donor service
  • Troubleshoot and manage complex or escalated support issues with professionalism
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects with Mission Development, Finance, Marketing, and others

Hiring, Training & Onboarding

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new staff and interns
  • Develop and implement effective training and quality assurance practices for a scalable team model

Hands-On Support

  • Learn all key responsibilities of Specialists and Sr. Specialists and assist as needed, including:
    • Resolving donor and missionary inquiries via phone, email, and mail
    • Serving as the primary contact for donation-related questions from staff and missionaries
    • Maintaining donor data with a consistent 99%+ accuracy rate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2–3+ years of people management experience required
  • Background in customer service management or call center environments is a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM/database systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge), and direct mail processes
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies, platforms, and systems quickly
  • Experience in developing scalable processes or systems in a high-volume environment
  • Mission-aligned, self-motivated, and deeply committed to serving others

Compensation & Benefits

For this role, we anticipate paying $55,000 - $65,000/year. (This role is also eligible for bonus pay.) This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.
