NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Environmental Protection Agency through the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program.

Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Plant operations, geology, wastewater treatment, and/or environmental science OR BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology and/or Physical Sciences

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS OneDrive, Adobe, Fax, Copying Machine, Multiple Phone Lines, Scanner

Duties:

Incumbent supports the Chemical Accident Enforcement Section by conducting Risk Management Plan (RMP) inspections under the Clean Air Act Section 112(r). conducts follow-up activities related to inspections and produces inspection reports detailing inspection findings.

  • Risk Management Plan inspections 55%
  • Inspection Report writing and supporting documentation preparation 35%
  • Provide technical assistance to the Agency, States, Businesses, and Public 10%

Other:

  • First Aid Training and Refresher, 8 hrs HAZWOPER (annually). Appropriate RMP refresher training.
  • Training on Agency specific systems, statute specific training, inspector training, safety training.
  • Overnight travel: 5-10 nights per month
  • Air travel anticipated: 5-10 nights per month
  • Rental cars: 5-10 nights per month
  • Health Safety Training: EPA's 24-hour Health and Safety for Field Activities and refresher, CPR First Aid Training and Refresher, 8 hrs HAZWOPER refresher annually. Appropriate RMP refresher training.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: All Personnel are sent to training prior to field assignment. Agency pays for training
  • Medical monitoring required for personnel who may be exposed to hazardous substances, health hazards, or safety hazards. All inspectors conducting RMP 112(r) inspections are required to have medical monitoring.
  • Required Safety Gear: coveralls, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed shoes and safety goggles/glasses.
  • Safety Gear Use: Equipment to be worn as needed during inspections
  • Physical requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
