FEMA General Labor Associate

Location: FEMA Project Site - Mt. Weather, VA (Travel Required)
Employment Type: Temporary
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly

About the Role

We're recruiting dependable and safety-conscious team members for a temporary FEMA disaster recovery project in partnership with IronShore Contracting. This project supports roofing crews performing recovery and restoration work following disaster-related events. Employees selected for this assignment will play an important role in supporting field operations through general labor duties and project assistance.

Important: This job is located in Mt. Weather, Virginia and will require travel.

Position Overview

As a FEMA General Labor Associate, you'll support roofing crews and project operations by performing general labor tasks, organizing materials, maintaining clean worksites, and assisting with day-to-day field activities. This assignment requires employees who are dependable, adaptable, and able to work safely in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Selected employees must complete FEMA site access paperwork and successfully pass all required background screening and clearance requirements before being approved to begin work. The clearance process may take approximately two weeks.

Schedule

  • Weather-dependent, temporary assignment
  • Typically operates Monday through Friday
  • Employees generally travel to the project location on Monday, remain onsite during the workweek, and return home on Friday
  • Actual workdays, hours, and schedules may vary based on project needs and weather conditions

Pay amp; Per Diem

  • Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
  • Per Diem: $35.00 per day for approved overnight stays

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove trash, debris, and materials from work areas
  • Move, stage, and organize materials for roofing crews
  • Assist with general labor duties as assigned
  • Support project operations and field activities
  • Follow all FEMA, customer, and project safety requirements
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Comply with all project security, access, and site procedures
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, crew members, and project staff

Qualifications

Required:

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to successfully complete FEMA site access paperwork
  • Ability to pass all required background screening and site clearance requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong dependability and attendance record
  • Ability to follow directions and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move materials, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to travel and stay near the project site during the workweek as required

Preferred:

  • Previous construction, roofing, warehouse, landscaping, or general labor experience
  • Experience working on disaster recovery or temporary project assignment
