Job Summary

The Programmer will be a hands-on, technical member of the Student Administration Systems team responsible for implementing and maintaining software systems and interfaces to various studentinformation systems including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. This is an internal customer-facing role, and requires excellentprioritization, responsiveness, highly technical skills, along withexcellent verbal communication skills. In keeping with theEnrollment Services values and competencies, the incumbent developsand maintains positive working relationships with both internal andexternal constituents. Furthermore, the incumbent provides servicesthat are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhancethe quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centeredand equity-minded approach in all communication and serviceefforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support - Provide daily technical support for usersof the Student Administration systems including (but not limitedto): CMS PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, DocOrigin, and CSLink basedreports. Work closely with functional counterparts to quicklyidentify and resolve production problems.
  • Development and Programming - Perform analysis, detailedprogram specification, programming, testing, and documentation toexpand the functional scope of the Student Administration systems,in order to meet the business needs of the university. Design andimplement procedures, software programs, reports, utilities, anddocumentation to support customer-focused delivery of businessdata.
  • Requirements Analysis - Collaborate with Systems and functionalteams with Student Administration systems related enhancements andworkflows. Assist project teams with gathering functionalrequirements, design, implementation, training, and ongoingsupport.
  • Provide support for third-party systems and applicationsrelated to Student Administration processing.
  • Documentation & Testing - Perform administrative aspects ofdevelopment, testing, and documentation in accordance with campusand CMS Central policies. Ensures operational integrity andcontinuity by maintaining detailed descriptions ofresponsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activitiesand outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internalequity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,492 (Step 1) - $7,759 (Step 10) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $6,492 (Step 1) - $9,458 (Step 20) per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of proficiency in ERPsystems, with preferred experience in PeopleSoft tools, technologies, and programming languages, including SQL, SQR, AppEngine, Application Designer, PeopleCode, PeopleTools, and debugging within a multi-tier distributed architecture. Experiencesupporting PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Student Administrationmodules, as well as a working knowledge of the UNIX environment, ishighly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and support peripheral StudentAdministration applications, collaborate effectively with both technical and functional teams, and share knowledge with peers. Inaddition, they will have strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills, along with excellent verbaland written communication abilities and strong listening skills. The ideal candidate will maintain a safe and professional workenvironment, communicate respectfully and civilly with the University community, and consistently treat students, faculty, staff, and colleagues with dignity, empathy, fairness, and professionalism in alignment with the University's mission, values, and strategic vision.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, InformationSystems, Information Management, or similar degree and two years of related experience required.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walkingand standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects(10 pounds or less).

Additional Information
