Temporary Production Test Pilot information

What is a temporary production test pilot?

Temporary Production Test Pilots are aviation professionals hired on a short-term basis to test and evaluate newly manufactured or modified aircraft before they are delivered to customers. Their main responsibility is to ensure that the aircraft meet all safety and performance standards through rigorous flight testing. These pilots work closely with engineers and quality assurance teams to identify and report any issues, helping to improve the final product. Temporary positions are often used to address increased production demands or fill in for permanent staff on leave.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a temporary production test pilot?

To thrive as a Temporary Production Test Pilot, you need a commercial or military pilot’s license, extensive flight hours, and thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and flight testing procedures. Familiarity with flight test instrumentation, data collection tools, and aviation safety management systems is typically required. Superior problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help pilots quickly identify and report issues. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring aircraft safety, regulatory compliance, and the reliable delivery of airworthy products.

What are common challenges faced by temporary production test pilots?

Temporary Production Test Pilots often encounter the challenge of quickly adapting to new aircraft models and test protocols, as each manufacturer may have unique procedures. They must rapidly build rapport with engineering teams and production staff to ensure clear communication and efficient workflow. Additionally, managing tight deadlines while prioritizing safety and compliance with regulatory standards is essential. Flexibility and precise technical evaluation skills are key to successfully navigating these short-term, high-responsibility roles.

Job description

THE POSITIONOur roster has an opening with your name on it
FanDuel is hiring a Lead Product Manager to drive the strategy and execution of Payments across our portfolio of products - from Sportsbook and Casino to Racing, Daily Fantasy Sports, and new product categories on the horizon. From deposits and wallet to withdrawals and payouts, you'll shape how millions of customers move money in and out of FanDuel every day, working at the intersection of customer experience, regulatory complexity, and large-scale financial operations.
You'll partner closely with Engineering, Commercial, Risk/Fraud, Finance, Compliance, and Legal to build payment experiences that are customer-first, compliant, resilient, and built to scale. This is a high-impact role for an experienced product leader who wants to own meaningful surface area at one of the largest regulated consumer payments environments in the U.S.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
  • Product Strategy and Vision: Partner with the Director of Payments Product, define and communicate a clear product vision, strategy and roadmap for Payments - balancing customer experience, operational efficiency, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Payments Experience: Own the end-to-end payments journey across FanDuel's portfolio - deposits, wallet, withdrawals, and payouts - designing capabilities that balance customer experience, conversion, and the controls, disclosures, and auditability required for a regulated environment.
  • Partner & Vendor Collaboration: Engage directly with FanDuel's payment partners and providers to manage day-to-day product needs, surface performance and integration issues, evaluate new capabilities, and support the evolution of our third-party payment's ecosystem.
  • Industry and Product Expertise: Build deep knowledge of product features, user journeys, and payments industry trends. Stay informed on market shifts, competitors, and emerging technologies to refine the product roadmap.
  • Performance, Optimization & Metrics: Partner with third-party payment providers and internal engineering teams to drive measurable improvements in authorization rates, reliability, and cost efficiency while maintaining strong controls. Establish, track, and communicate the success metrics that matter and use a data-driven approach to prioritize work and demonstrate impact.
  • Experimentation and Iteration: Champion a test-and-learn approach: concept validation, A/B tests, pilots, and phased rollouts.
  • Product Quality and Delivery: Partner with engineering to ensure clear requirements, strong acceptance criteria, and high-quality launches. Manage dependencies, triage issues, and act as an escalation point to keep delivery on track.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Lead complex initiatives end-to-end-from discovery and business case through delivery and iteration. Align stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk/Fraud, and Operations; remove blockers and drive decisions.
  • Stakeholder Management and Influence: Deliver concise, action-oriented communication and confidently present to senior leadership and cross-functional partners to secure buy-in, align priorities, and drive outcomes.

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
  • 7+ years of product management experience with a track record of driving measurable business outcomes through customer-facing experiences.
  • Experience with payments, fintech, or financial systems products is preferred. We'll also strongly consider candidates with experience in adjacent transactional consumer domains - checkout, conversion optimization, onboarding, subscriptions, or marketplace platforms.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives with measurable business impact - e.g., conversion, retention, revenue generation, cost optimization, fraud reduction, or comparable funnel and financial metrics.
  • Experience leading and developing others as a direct manager - at least one product manager, product owner, or analyst reporting to you, with evidence of their growth under your leadership.
  • Comfort working in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments, with experience partnering closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk (or equivalent functions).
  • Technical fluency: comfortable collaborating deeply with engineering on APIs, complex transactional systems, and third-party vendor integrations.
  • Strong business acumen: crafting business cases, prioritizing tradeoffs, and communicating clearly with executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence without authority across senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Passion for sports, sports betting, or sports-adjacent products; existing knowledge in these areas is a plus.
  • Bonus: experience with high-volume consumer payments, alternative payment methods (APMs), or emerging payment products such as real-time payments and digital assets/cryptocurrency.
  • Extra Bonus: exposure to AI in a product context - whether that's using AI tools to accelerate your own product workflows, leveraging AI to build product features, or simply a strong curiosity and aptitude for incorporating AI into how modern PMs work.
  • Don't check all the boxes? That's okay! We encourage you to still apply if you feel you possess adjacent skills and are interested in learning more.
