Job description

The Production Planning Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end scheduling and inventory management of a single manufacturing facility. You will balance the scales between operational efficiency and customer service, managing an average inventory investment of $8M and overseeing $50M in conversion costs. This role serves as the central hub connecting corporate strategy, plant operations, and logistics to ensure production targets are met profitably and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Scheduling: Develop weekly 4-8 week production requirements and daily schedules that optimize labor, minimize conversion costs, and achieve plant efficiency targets.
Inventory & Cost Control: Manage raw material procurement and finished goods inventory to minimize spoilage (CIT/Aged inventory) and optimize working capital.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead weekly scheduling meetings to align plant staff with corporate planning; serve as an active member of the Plant Steering Team.
Real-Time Problem Solving: Act as the 24/7 point of contact for unplanned downtime, proactively adjusting production plans to mitigate shortages.
Performance Analytics: Track and communicate "Actual vs. Scheduled" performance metrics and maintain accurate standard cost and supply planning master data.
Innovation & Launch Support: Coordinate with QA and R&D for new product launches and provide data-driven recommendations for Supply Agreement processes.
