Machine Operator Packaging/Bagger - Treat Plant

Join our family-owned team at Diamond Pet Foods as a Machine Operator specializing in Packaging/Bagging in our Treat Plant! This Day Shift opportunity requires working hours of 4:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday - Thursday. This energetic role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast/reasonable-paced, quality and safety-focused environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring high-quality packaging, efficient materials handling, and seamless production flow. Duties may also include performing routine maintenance on equipment, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring consistent production standards. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently and correctly operate the bagger packaging machines.
  • Perform routine adjustments and changeover (one product to another), such as sealer, conveyors, bag speed, and scale weights.
  • Perform quality checks (seal checks, correct bag, bag weight, size, and shape; confirm absence of cross contamination or foreign material) and document on Quality Control Log as required.
  • Perform metal detector checks and document on Critical Control Point Log.
  • Adjust the printer, scale, and sealer as required.
  • Ensure correct batch code on totes and efficiently switch from tote to tote on demand.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible paperwork - record shift production and bag waste.
  • Keep workstation and surrounding area in a clean and safe manner at all times. Maintain assigned portion of master sanitation schedule.
  • Report all safety violations and hazards to the supervisor immediately and participate in all safety programs and procedures. Must wear required PPE at all times.
  • Perform all other additional duties and functions as assigned by management with a positive and professional attitude.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Overtime is MANDATORY and requires full participation.
  • Cover for other employees’ absences when called upon whether preplanned or on short notice.
  • Accept temporary assignment changes to assist other areas of the plant, maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Crosstrain in other job duties as required. This position is required to cross train as required by management and assist in all other areas as directed.
  • Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments.
  • Understand, follow, and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and HACCP (CCP’s) in accordance with company policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening (drug screening, background check, and physical).
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and easily get on and off forklifts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the team and supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed primarily indoors near operating equipment, loud noises, and loose particles.
  • Works performed requires employees to operate in variety of temperatures.
  • Long periods of standing may be required.
  • Employees are required to wear a bump-cap, hearing protection, safety-shoes/boots (boot voucher available), and safety glasses at all times.
