Rave! Catering is a department within NC State Dining. The primary purpose of the organizational unit is to provide catering services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University campus.
NC State Dining provides campus wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 10 cafes, 3 food courts and 6 dining halls, 4 markets, 1 restaurant, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. Essential Job Duties
Are you a logistical mastermind who loves the fast-paced world of catering and events? We are seeking a dynamic and organized Catering Driver Supervisor to lead our transportation and beverage/equipment teams. In this role, you will be the backbone of our event execution, ensuring that all catering equipment, beverages, and supplies are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Beyond driving, you will manage our vehicle fleet, oversee inventory, and lead a dedicated team to deliver outstanding service across the University. If you are a proactive leader with a knack for logistics and a commitment to excellence, we want you on our team!

Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Scheduling:
  • Supervise & Support: Lead, motivate, and manage the catering transportation and beverage/equipment teams.
  • Staff Scheduling: Utilize specialized departmental software to create, distribute, and monitor employee schedules.
  • Clear Communication: Foster a collaborative team environment and maintain professional communication with multiple levels of University employees, peers, and customers.
Logistics, Driving & Event Execution:
  • Delivery Operations: Develop, distribute, and monitor the daily delivery and transportation schedules.
  • Behind the Wheel: Drive various delivery trucks and vehicles to execute catering and dining deliveries safely.
  • Event Support: Load and unload cargo at each location; actively assist with event setup and breakdown.
  • Fast-Paced Adaptability: Thrive and maintain professionalism under pressure in a high-energy, fast-moving environment.
Fleet Management & Safety:
  • Fleet Care: Ensure a well-maintained, clean, and safe fleet of catering and dining vehicles.
  • Training & Records: Establish and maintain a driver training program and a comprehensive fleet service record-keeping system.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Oversee routine inspections, fueling, and preventative maintenance schedules in strict accordance with the NCSU Motor Pool guidelines.
Inventory & Supply Control:
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control, receipt, storage, and issuance of a wide variety of catering supplies, materials, and equipment.

Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical demands including bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and standing for extended periods.
Lifting Capability: Must be able to lift 30 pounds above the head, and up to 60 pounds on rare occasions (with or without reasonable accommodation).

Qualifications:
Minimum Experience/Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalency and two years of supervisory experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory Experience: Proven track record of successfully leading and scheduling a team with excellent organizational skills with a commitment to completing all tasks and performance goals efficiently.
  • Logistics & Supply Expertise: Experience in the receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory control of supplies and equipment.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in standard computer use with the ability to quickly learn new, specialized departmental software.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service, remaining calm, respectful, and professional under pressure or in difficult situations.
Required License or Certification:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be capable of safely operating various delivery vehicles.
  • NCDL within 60 days of hire, must be maintained as a condition of employment.
  • State vehicle furnished to drive to events or other Campus Enterprises locations.
