As a temporary phlebotomist, you draw blood from patients during blood collection drives or to obtain a sample for testing and diagnostic purposes. As a temporary employee, you perform your duties on a contract or as-needed basis, or you receive short-term assignments from a staffing agency. During a blood draw procedure, you insert a needle into the arm of a patient or donor. You may collect diagnostic samples from the finger. In this role, your responsibilities include collecting information from each patient and labeling and documenting each sample after collection.
