Job Summary: The phlebotomist performs pre-analytic phases of clinical specimen collection and preparation primarily in an outpatient setting but may be requested to work in other areas of the lab as needed. Job Responsibilities: -Registers patients and accurately inputs insurance information as required. Performs the full range of duties from specimen procurement through specimen processing by using laboratory equipment and devices. -Acts as a resource for the lab by handling and triaging inquiries to the appropriate personnel, including giving out lab reports and delivering specimens to the appropriate division.

Required Skills & Experience: -Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes gained through education, experience, or a combination of the two. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. -Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. -Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Prefer one year of phlebotomy experience or completion of UCI phlebotomy program.
