Job description

The Office Technician (OT) serves as an entry-level administrative and program support position within the Division of Licensure Enforcement (DLE), Intake Unit. Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I, the incumbent provides clerical, records management, and operational support for intake and case processing activities. The position also supports analytical staff by assisting with document preparation, data tracking, and unit projects, allowing for developmental growth and exposure to analytical functions while performing primarily clerical duties.

Department Information The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is an agency in the Executive Branch of California State Government. It was created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation. The major purpose of the agency is to serve as a state standards board for educator preparation for the public schools of California, the licensing and credentialing of professional educators in the State, the enforcement of professional practices of educators, and the discipline of credential holders in the State of California.
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the temporary Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee receive a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits. The temporary salary reduction percentage and the number of PLP 2025 leave credits are based on the position's associated bargaining unit. The salary range(s) included in this job advertisement do not include the temporary salary reduction.

2. Describe a situation where you were responsible for maintaining confidential or sensitive information. What steps did you take to protect the information and ensure it was handled appropriately?
3. Describe your experience using office technology such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, databases, document imaging systems, or electronic tracking systems. Explain how these tools helped you maintain accurate records and manage workloads efficiently.
4. Describe a situation where you provided customer service to an individual who was upset, frustrated, or seeking information you could not immediately provide. Explain how you handled the interaction and what the outcome was.
5. Based on your education, training, and professional experience, explain how you are prepared to successfully perform the duties of an Office Technician (Typing) within the Division of Licensure Enforcement Intake Unit. Include examples demonstrating attention to detail, records management, customer service, confidentiality, teamwork, and adaptability in a high-volume environment.
