Job Responsibilities
Peer Mentors are students who support the success of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities by promoting independence, inclusion, and personal development in social engagement and independent living skills.
Responsibilities include: Facilitate student involvement in clubs, campus events, and recreational activities. Provide one-on-one and/or small group support in the development/refinement of social communication skills. Support students in navigating campus and community resources. Documenting student progress towards social and/or independent living goals. Meet weekly with supervisor to discuss student progress.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
  • Student at Midlands Technical College
  • Good communication skills
  • Interest in working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Strong teamwork and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
