Job description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – High-Speed Digital HardwareJob Description

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and validation of complex digital and mixed-signal circuit card assemblies (CCAs) supporting advanced embedded computing platforms. This individual will be responsible for architecting and designing high-speed digital hardware, guiding products from concept through production, and serving as a technical leader for less experienced engineers. This role is best suited for an engineer whose recent experience centers around complex digital electronics, high-speed interfaces, processor-based designs, power architecture, board bring-up, and system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex circuit card assemblies utilizing modern digital architectures.
  • Implement and integrate DDR memory interfaces, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, and other high-speed communications interfaces.
  • Design around large-scale application processors, FPGAs, SoCs, and supporting power architectures.
  • Develop schematics, component selection, power distribution networks, and interface circuitry.
  • Perform circuit simulation and analysis using SPICE-based tools.
  • Support PCB layout reviews with emphasis on signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Conduct board bring-up, debug, integration, and verification of newly designed hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues at the board and system level.
  • Support EMI/EMC testing and resolve compliance issues.
  • Work closely with firmware, FPGA, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers throughout product development.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers while providing technical leadership on complex development efforts.
  • Generate and maintain design documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports.
Essential Skills
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on digital hardware design.
  • Experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design, Cadence design tools, and SPICE simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in high-speed digital design and hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, high-speed PCB design, and processor-based architectures.
  • Experience bringing complex hardware products from concept through production.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Allegro PCB layout/drawings, rugged cable design/drawing notes, VHDL/Verilog.
  • Mentoring/task leadership.
  • Recent experience designing and integrating high-speed interfaces such as DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen4/Gen5, USB 3.2, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Experience with digital processing platforms, application processors, FPGA-based designs, VHDL development, and FPGA integration.
  • Knowledge of power architecture including point-of-load switching power supplies, power sequencing, and mixed-signal power systems.
  • Proficiency in hardware development and validation including new board bring-up, circuit simulation, signal integrity simulation, power integrity simulation, lab debugging, and EMI/EMC troubleshooting.
Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with firmware, FPGA, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers. The role includes designing with modern digital architectures and utilizing high-speed communications interfaces. Engineers will work in a lab setting for hardware integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities, maintaining a focus on signal and power integrity as well as design for manufacturability and reliability.
