Job Title: IT Hardware & Asset Management Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking an IT Hardware & Asset Management Technician to own the end-to-end lifecycle of our end-user computing environment. You will be responsible for everything from imaging and configuring new laptops to managing the logistics of equipment returns and end-of-life disposal.
This is a physical, "hands-on" IT role for a candidate who understands that an efficient IT environment starts with clean hardware and organized data. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our hardware standards and play a critical role in ensuring our inventory is accurate and audit-ready. Key Responsibilities
Hardware Lifecycle & Deployment
• Deployment & Configuration: Oversee the build, configuration, and installation of laptops, desktops, and peripherals. Maintain corporate standard images to ensure consistency across the fleet.
• Asset Logistics: Manage the end-to-end movement of assets. This includes receiving new shipments, processing equipment returns, and coordinating the secure preparation of hardware for decommissioning or surplus.
• Inventory Stewardship: Maintain a meticulous inventory of all computers, components, and peripherals. Ensure our internal records match our physical hardware in real-time.
Technical Support & Process Optimization
• SME Guidance: Contribute to the development of IT policies and best practices. As a Subject Matter Expert, you will help define our hardware standards and documentation processes.
• End-User Support: Serve as a technical point of escalation for PC support specialists. Assist in troubleshooting complex hardware/software issues and document all resolutions according to our corporate standards.
• Data-Driven Decision Support: Provide actionable data and recommendations to IT management regarding hardware selection, performance, and replacement cycles.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Associate's degree in a computer-science-related field (or equivalent demonstrable training/experience).
• Experience Baseline: One (1) or more years of full-time professional IT experience with a deep grasp of hardware and software fundamentals.
• Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical labor, including regular lifting of 40+ pounds and the packing/shipping of hardware.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills. You must be comfortable acting as both a student (learning new tech) and a teacher (guiding peers and end-users).
Preferred Attributes
• Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator) are highly desirable.
• A "logistics-minded" approach to IT-you are as comfortable with a shipping label as you are with an image file.
• Strong attention to detail-you understand that a well-documented process is just as important as a well-built PC.
