Job Description Kettering is the place to be for all things ice. Be a part of a great team and use your knowledge of ice skating to help community members build skills that will last a lifetime. The City of Kettering's Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill Temporary Part-Time Ice Instructor Aide positions for the Kettering Ice Arena.

These positions are responsible for assisting with Learn to Skate USA ice skating group classes assisting in ice arena specialty events and City of Kettering related ice shows. Compensation: Pay range is $11.10 to $13.05 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate's related skills knowledge and abilities

These Temporary Part-Time Ice Instructor Aide positions will be permitted to work up to 28 hours per week year-round. Examples of Duties Assists instructors with various levels of Learn to Skate USA group classes; Assists in teaching proper ice skating skills maintaining a safe, encouraging environment; Assists with class set up and clean up; Carries out additional responsibilities assigned by the Lesson Coordinator; Regular and predictable on-site attendance required with availability to work Wednesday or Saturday lesson times; Must be able to skate at least 3 hours per class day; Availability to sub if necessary when needed; Monthly in-service meetings attendance required; Assists in choreographing ice show and exhibitions numbers; Assists where needed in ice shows and exhibitions; Assists in arena specialty events; Maintains a professional demeanor on and off the ice; Promotes City of Kettering group class program; Must be able to establish effective working relationships and communicate with skaters, instructors, parents, Learn to Skate coordinator, City staff members, volunteers and the general public in a positive manner; Enforces and follows all policies and procedures established by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts department; Typical Qualifications Must possess current knowledge and understanding of Learn to Skate USA program and ice skating fundamentals. Ability to ice skate, assist skaters of all levels, abilities and ages.

Required to hold current yearly Learn to Skate USA instructor membership and certifications pertaining to Learn to Skate USA instructors; pass a Learn to Skate USA background check (if over 18 years of age); must be Ohio Concussion certified. Some experience preferred, but not required. CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification preferred (will be provided if not current) or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
