Role
This is a temporary position.
The Yavapai County Public Works Department is seeking a skilled Inspector Journey to join the Right of Way Division for a temporary assignment. This position performs technical inspections and fieldwork to ensure compliance with county standards, permits, and right-of-way regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction inspection, roadway maintenance, or right-of-way management, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in the field.
Major Duties, Responsibilities
  • Reviews, approves, and completes data entry on right-of-way permits, access permits and property finals. Sets up inspections, assists inspectors, creates maps, and tracks permits. Assists with legal issues with regard to public right of way. Reviews preliminary projects plans to include new subdivisions, commercial projects.
  • Coordinates inspections and addresses complaints regarding encroachments, drainage issues, abandoned vehicles, proposed street name sign installation, right-of-way issues, permits, access permits and assist other regulatory departments with final inspections.
  • Maintains computer programs, corresponds with account holders and applicants to ensure compliance; prepares reports and other documents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in road construction or related field, to include (1) year as an inspector.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.

  • Relevant ordinances, local and state codes, resolutions, specifications, and standards.

  • Current Microsoft Office software.
  • Filing and recordkeeping.

  • Performing safety and compliance inspections.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office and field environment year-round in all weather conditions and may include exposure to loud noise, dangerous emergency situations, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stand, walk over rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
