Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy outpatient team to care for patients with Multiple Myeloma going through Stem Cell Transplant, CAR-T therapy and patients with MGUS. The ideal candidate has internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Job Duties & Responsibilities

Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis. Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform thorough physical examinations. Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities. Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications. Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documenting toxicities and data collection. Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care. Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members. Participate in the education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners. See scheduled and unscheduled patients. Perform procedures including: Bone Marrow Biopsies Lumbar Puncture with and without intrathecal chemotherapy Ommaya Access with and without intrathecal chemotherapy Punch skin biopsy with simple suture. Attend program required meetings. Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME. Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies. Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred. Certification Physician Assistant Certification Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification Licensed in the State of North Carolina BLS required ACLS preferred License NP: Must have unrestricted RN licensure issued by or recognized by the NCBON with authorization to practice as a NP PA: Must have unrestricted medical license issued by NCMB with authorization to practice as PA Both: DEA independent license with prescriptive authority Experience 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
