As a Temporary Outpatient PACU RN, the PACU environment generally involves shorter, less complex patient stays compared to the ICU, which handles critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced interventions. The PACU typically has a faster-paced but less intense atmosphere, while ICU nurses manage more complex cases and higher patient acuity, often leading to increased stress levels. Both roles require strong assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly, but the ICU is usually considered more stressful due to the severity of patient conditions.
