Job description

Temporary School Construction Crossing Guard

The Oberlin City School District is seeking a dependable individual to serve as a Temporary Crossing Guard during school construction. This is a temporary, part-time position working approximately 2 hours per day to help ensure the safe movement of students, staff, parents, and construction traffic during arrival and/or dismissal.

Essential Duties:

  • Direct pedestrian traffic safely through designated crossing areas.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe flow of vehicles and construction-related traffic.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and directions from district staff.
  • Communicate courteously with students, families, staff, and contractors.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to interact professionally with children and adults.
  • Must successfully complete all required pre-employment background checks.

This is a temporary outdoor position that will remain in place for the duration of the school construction project.
