Traffic Engineer (Independent Contractor / 1-Time Project)

Project Overview
We are seeking a qualified, independent California Licensed Traffic Engineer to perform a traffic study and develop a conceptual striping plan for a project located in Lancaster, California. This is a one-time, contract-based assignment. The final deliverables must be signed and stamped by a registered professional engineer in the State of California.
Primary Deliverables
- Traffic Impact Study: Conduct the necessary traffic analysis and generate a clear, concise technical report summarizing findings, issues, and data-backed recommendations.
- Conceptual Striping Plan: Develop preliminary pavement marking and signing plans using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Design Compliance: Ensure all plans and calculations conform to the California MUTCD, City of Lancaster standards, and Caltrans guidelines where applicable.
Job Qualifications
- Licensure: Active California Civil P.E. (Professional Engineer) or T.E. (Traffic Engineer) license is strictly required.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of traffic engineering and design experience specifically handling California local agency (ideally High Desert / Los Angeles County) projects.
- Software: Proficient in AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with traffic modeling software (Synchro, HCS) is highly preferred to support the study findings.
- Autonomy: Must be self-sufficient, highly responsive, and able to provide a final, QA/QC-checked product ready for agency submittal within the tight timeline.
Compensation & Terms
- Fee: $6,000 flat fee upon successful completion and delivery of approved plans/study.
- Project Schedule: Strict 46 week timeline from kickoff to final submittal.
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position. No benefits, equipment, or software licenses will be provided.
