Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Maintenance Assistant shall serve the Eagle Lake Camps and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators' calling, values, and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Eagle Lake Facilities team by ensuring the smooth operation of all day camp and overnight buildings, vehicles, grounds and equipment. The Maintenance Technician assists in the repairing and maintenance of all of Eagle Lake's facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Capital Projects/Construction Responsibilities (50%)
  • Assist the Eagle Lake facilities team with ongoing construction projects for both Eagle Lake overnight and day camp properties.
  • Serve in the construction/maintenance of special projects/building requests.

Fleet Maintenance Responsibilities (30%)
  • Provide routine maintenance to Eagle Lake's vehicles including, but not limited to: oil, brakes, tires, lights, fluids and other scheduled maintenance.
  • Coordinate with professional shops for repairs beyond Eagle Lake's mechanical knowledge to perform effective and safe repairs. o Document all maintenance/repairs for each vehicle.
  • Maintain or fix Eagle Lake's fleet of small engines/equipment including, but not limited to: chainsaws, lawn mowers, generators, winches etc.

Property Stewardship Responsibilities (15%)
  • Help maintain the grounds of Eagle Lake as directed by the Director of Facilities.
  • Grounds include but are not limited to: roads, fences, utilities, trails, signage, lawn, parking lot etc.
  • Assist with 'Outdoor Crew' projects in the summertime (if applicable).

Additional Responsibilities (5%)
  • Attend facility meetings to plan and collaborate on priorities and projects.
  • Complete a monthly expense report
  • Participate in Navigators' on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver's Authorization, and other releases as required.
  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Commitment to Eagle Lake's Purpose, Core Values, and Brand Promise, and willingness to abide by the Eagle Lake Relational Covenant.
Experience:
Experience with basic tools for construction, landscaping, and vehicle maintenance. Safe track record of working with equipment, tools and vehicles. Eligible to drive for The Navigators required. Experience with heavy machinery, tractors, and appliance repair preferred.
Technical Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of basic tools for construction, landscaping, and vehicle maintenance required.
Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required.
Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Hours: Temporary, Part-time (29 hours per week).
Location: Not required to live at Eagle Lake Camp. Option available to rent apartment at Eagle Lake Camp.
Compensation Range: $16.48 - $23.23 per hour
