Job description

Club SciKidz MD offers science and technology summer camps for children ages 4-15 years in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, and Montgomery counties. We are hiring a Lead Instructor to work at our location at Bullis School in Potomac. The Lead Instructor position is for certified teachers and other adults working in the field of education or childcare that have at least 2 years experience working with and leading a group of children.

Our day camps run Monday-Friday, and staff are scheduled by the week. Staff hours are approximately 8:15-4:15 with one before and one after care shift each week. Pay for Lead Instructors start at $575 a week and is dependent on your experience working with children and the fields of science & technology. Certified teachers are $640 per week.

We are looking for folks who:

  • Enjoy working with children
  • Have experience working with and teaching children; can lead a classroom of 20 children
  • Want to help campers have a great summer as they learn science & technology
  • Passionate about providing children with hands-on learning experiences
  • Are reliable & hard working; have reliable transportation
  • Can commit to work all three weeks (July 20, 27 and August 3).
  • Preferred Skill: Be able to teach a camp that contains two dissections (sheep heart and crayfish)

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Supervising campers
  • Implementing provided lessons (all lessons, materials & supplies are provided)
  • Keeping kids engaged, while maintaining a safe environment
  • Have fun with what you are doing
  • Being on time every day for your required shifts (you are scheduled by the week, so you work a whole week (Monday-Friday) for the weeks that you are scheduled
  • Working with other staff to provide an excellent camp experience
