Manual MIG Pipe WelderPay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: Decatur, AL
Position Summary
We are currently seeking experienced Manual MIG Pipe Welders to join our team. This position is a Temp-To-Hire for our manufacturing client. This position is responsible for performing high-quality root and filler weld passes on pipe and pipe assemblies according to customer specifications, blueprints, and industry standards.
If you take pride in producing quality welds, can read blueprints, and have experience welding pipe in multiple positions, we'd like to speak with you.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality manual MIG (GMAW) welding on pipe and pipe assemblies.
  • Complete root passes, filler passes, and final welds according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform pipe welding and produce sound, high-quality welds.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedures.
  • Prepare materials by beveling, cleaning, fitting, and aligning pipe components prior to welding.
  • Ensure proper root openings and fit-up before tacking and welding.
  • Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, and other discontinuities.
  • Utilize gauges and measuring tools to verify weld quality and compliance.
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment and welding parameters as required.
  • Maintain welding equipment and hand tools, including grinders, torches, and welding guns.
  • Troubleshoot minor welding equipment issues.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Ensure safety devices such as light curtains and safety gates are functioning properly.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school or welding certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of pipe welding experience.
  • Strong MIG (GMAW) welding skills.
  • Must be proficient in pipe welding.

  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing leak-free, high-pressure welds.
  • Ability to pass an onsite welding test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to lift and carry:
    • Up to 10 lbs. continuously
    • 1020 lbs. frequently
    • Up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to work safely around welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Must possess adequate vision, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color recognition, and focus adjustment.
