Job description

Senior Project Manager

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Project Management, the Senior Project Manager will oversee Project Managers leading construction sites and supervise the installation workforce to meet schedule requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean work environment throughout the installation process, providing leadership to installation personnel, supporting problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts, and delivering financial feedback and operational support to the Vice President of Operations. The position operates in compliance with the employee handbook and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, with a blend of office and field responsibilities and required travel to job sites and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce rules and regulations; take disciplinary action when necessary and report actions to the Vice President of Operations and Human Resources.
  • Instruct and assist employees to install safely and productively while meeting quality requirements.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas and job sites.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and partners, including LV electrical, MV electrical, surveyors, concrete, temporary labor, civil inspectors, and Miss Dig.
  • Support workforce and installation project scheduling in partnership with the Vice President of Operations.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained to safely install quality solar arrays.
  • Ensure required materials are available to support productive installation.
  • Document accidents and complete required reports.
  • Support hiring efforts with the Vice President of Operations and HR to meet installation schedule needs.
  • Evaluate new job packets for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure customer and internal quality standards are achieved and maintain properly documented evidence.
  • Promote and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships; serve as the key contact for jobsite issues.
  • Partner with the Purchasing Manager to order materials/supplies on time and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement methodologies with installation team members.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance requirements on company-owned equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change with or without notice.

Requirements

  • Valid state driver’s license; ability to obtain a valid and appropriate driver’s license (CDL) to maintain employment (CDL certification preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of construction, installation, and quality systems experience; utility-scale projects of 5 MW+ or behind-the-meter commercial/industrial projects preferred; AC and DC electrical installation experience preferred.
  • NABCEP Certified Installation Professional (required).
  • MIOSHA 30 Certification (required).
  • Physical capability to work in varied positions/environments (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting) for extended periods; ability to climb stairs/ladders; occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds; ability to meet vision and endurance requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.
  • Work environment expectations: office environment approximately 50% of the time with frequent interruptions and multitasking; standard office equipment including Microsoft Office.
  • Travel requirements: day travel required approximately 50% of the time; overnight travel required approximately 25% of the time to support job sites and customers.
