Provides advanced nursing care and oversees the Chronic Care Disease Program by assessing, treating, and monitoring inmates with chronic medical conditions. Ensures compliance with clinical standards, licensing requirements, and ACA accreditation standards while collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and security personnel to deliver quality, evidence-based healthcare and promote positive patient outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit.

NOTE: The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires, the employee must be removed from the position.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Manage Chronic Care Programs - Oversee the Chronic Care Disease Program by assessing, treating, and monitoring inmates with chronic illnesses, ensuring timely follow-up care and adherence to evidence-based treatment guidelines. Provide Advanced Clinical Care - Conduct chronic care clinics, review diagnostic tests and medical records, prescribe and monitor treatment plans, participate in the on-call rotation, and collaborate with physicians to deliver quality patient care.

Ensure Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance - Maintain compliance with Louisiana State Board of Nursing requirements, American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, licensure, ACLS certification, and all applicable policies and accreditation requirements. Coordinate Education and Quality Improvement - Develop and deliver inmate and staff health education, maintain chronic care manuals and educational materials, compile and analyze program data, and recommend quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Collaborate with Healthcare and Security Staff - Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, medical automation personnel, and correctional staff to coordinate care, maintain accurate medical documentation, ensure institutional security requirements are met, and promote a safe, professional healthcare environment.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment.

If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $54.87 per hour. This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay
