Job description

Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description

This Lab Technician role focuses on ensuring the quality and safety of raw materials and finished goods through sensory testing, analytical evaluation, and accurate documentation. You will support shelf-life extensions, maintain and troubleshoot quality control instruments, and play a key role in quality assurance processes within a small QA/QC team in the food, beverage, or nutritional manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform raw material testing and finished goods testing, including sensory evaluations, to verify quality and compliance with internal standards.
  • Re-test expiring raw materials and finished goods to support shelf-life extension decisions and document results accurately.
  • Troubleshoot quality control instruments and coordinate service and maintenance with external providers or internal resources as needed.
  • Release or place raw materials on hold based on test results and established quality criteria.
  • Record and maintain all test results, decisions, and related data in the ERP system with a high level of accuracy and completeness.
  • Review FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) specifications for flavor substances to ensure materials meet applicable standards.
  • Complete customer quality assurance questionnaires accurately and on time, providing clear and professional responses.
  • Collaborate with the QA/QC team to support continuous improvement in laboratory processes and quality systems.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures, quality protocols, and safety guidelines in all testing activities.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of quality control or quality assurance laboratory testing experience in food, beverage manufacturing, or nutritional (nutra) environments.
  • Hands-on experience performing QC/QA laboratory tests on raw materials and finished products.
  • Ability to conduct sensory testing and interpret results for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Experience troubleshooting quality control instruments and coordinating maintenance or service.
  • Proficiency in documenting test results and quality decisions in an ERP system or similar digital platform.
  • Familiarity with FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) specifications for flavor substances or similar regulatory standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and data entry.
  • Effective time management skills to complete customer QA questionnaires and internal tasks on schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, particularly in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
  • Flavor-related experience is a plus, especially in working with flavor substances or flavor-related quality testing.
  • Experience working within small QA/QC teams or cross-functional quality environments.
  • Strong written communication skills for completing customer QA questionnaires and internal documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues in quality and production.
Work Environment

You will work as part of a small QA/QC team in a laboratory setting within a food, beverage, or nutritional manufacturing environment. The role involves frequent use of quality control instruments, sensory testing setups, and an ERP system for documentation. The position requires consistent adherence to laboratory safety procedures, quality standards, and established testing protocols. The environment is collaborative and quality-focused, with close coordination among team members to support production and customer requirements.

This is a Contract position based out of City Of Industry, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
