COREJOB SUMMARY

TheAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. TheAPRNisalsoexaminesand treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. May prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests.Advisespatientsaboutcontinuing care.

Department Specific Functions

The Department of Medicine, Division of CardiovascularMedicineis searching for an AdvancedPracticeRegisteredNurse (APRN) to workalongtheInterventional Cardiologyteam atUHealth, both in the outpatient and inpatient services. The selected candidate will provide direct clinical care to cardiovascular patientsandshould haveexperience in cardiology/interventional/cardiac ICU experienceand be able to work independently or with minimal supervision.

Accountabilities

  • The APRN will work with supervising faculty members to manage all patient medical needs.

  • Complete H&Ps, consent reviews, post-procedure assessments, medication adjustments, and discharge planning for cardiaccath, PCI, and structural heart procedures.

  • Perform daily rounds, review diagnostics (EKGs, labs, imaging), develop care plans, and coordinate with the interventional cardiology attending and multidisciplinary team.

  • Educates and guides patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits

  • Educate patients and families on procedures, medications (e.g., antiplatelet therapy), risk-factor modification, and follow-up care, ensuring continuity betweencathlab,clinic, and inpatient settings.

  • Understands the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process

  • Triage in-basket messages, respond to urgent clinical issues, communicate abnormal results, and ensuretimelyfollow-ups to improve patient flow and procedural readiness.

  • Emphasizespreventative care and disease management

  • Prescribes needed medications

  • Provides episodic and chronic care management, as well as screening and educationalassistanceto the clinic's patients

  • Recognizes diversity of patient population and treats all warmly and kindly

  • Works in harmony with other members of the healthcare team to provide the highest standards of quality care to patients

  • Provides quality care to patients by following the most current evidence-based guideline and procedure of practice Follows the clinics' evidence-based guidelines, perform common vaccinations and diagnostic screenings

  • Provide clinical support to cardiology off-campus site

  • Identifypatients for eligibility for research protocols as per IRB standards

  • Takes part in quality assurance audits, including continuing education, CP review, medication administration review, and peer review

  • EnsuresUHealth'sobjectivesregardingfinancials, patient engagement, patient satisfaction, and healthcare quality

  • Ensures participation in continuing nursing education and training to keep abreast of current developments in the industry

  • Ensuresstate licensure and national certification remain current and valid

  • Ensures continuous flow of communication with leadership of healthcareclinicto enhance quality of healthcareserviceto patients

  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the superior

Position Requirements:

  • Master's Degree level Family Nurse Practitioner program,has national NP/AGNP/Adult-Gerontology certification

  • Current National Board Certification

  • State of Florida license to practice as Advanced Practice Nurse

  • Minimum of 5 years of APRN hospital and cardiac experiencerequired

  • Any combination of relevant education, work experience and/or certifications will be considered
