Job description

Job Title: Senior Finance & Compliance Manager (Grants & Operations)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Finance & Compliance Manager to oversee the financial integrity and strategic reporting for our most complex operations. You will act as the financial "source of truth," ensuring that our day-to-day transactions, budgets, and long-term forecasts align with both internal policies and rigorous federal/external regulatory standards.
This is a senior-level role for a seasoned accountant who thrives in highly regulated environments. You will be responsible for the full financial lifecycle-from reconciling partner billings and effort reporting to leading the fiscal year-end close and audit support. If you are a strategic thinker who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership while maintaining the highest levels of internal control, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
• Financial Oversight: Manage the full cycle of financial operations, including monthly invoice reviews, effort reconciliations, and cost-correction management to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare, analyze, and present comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial packages. Deliver actionable analysis that informs executive decision-making.
• Fiscal Reporting: Own the formal fiscal year-end close-out process. Prepare and submit high-level financial reports that meet the requirements of both internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
Compliance & Governance
• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all financial practices strictly adhere to GAAP, federal financial regulations, and internal governance standards.
• Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary lead for internal and external audits. Manage the timely preparation of documentation, data requests, and responses to ensure a smooth audit lifecycle.
• Process Excellence: Strengthen internal controls, streamline reconciliation processes, and enhance ERP system functionality to drive efficiency and transparency across the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of ten to fifteen (10-15) years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis.
• Regulatory Depth: Proven knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance in government, nonprofit, or grant-funded settings.
• Technical Mastery: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (modeling, macros, complex formulas). Proficiency in enterprise-grade ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, or Essbase).
Preferred Attributes
• Direct experience with grant administration or the unique accounting requirements of large-scale, multi-partner contracts.
• A "consultant's mindset"-you don't just report numbers; you identify what those numbers mean for the organization's strategic goals.
• Exceptional "partnering" skills: You are comfortable collaborating across departments and with external stakeholders to build consensus around financial processes.
