This is an ideal role for an enthusiastic developer who wants to build real-world web applications, modern interactive dashboards, and cloud integrations in support of NASA’s mission.

Location: Washington, DC - Hybrid (1 day/week on-site at NASA HQ, 4 days remote)

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain custom web-based applications, interactive dashboards, financial systems, and process management platforms.
  • Develop modern front-end interfaces using Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, incorporating data visualization and dashboarding plugins.
  • Maintain and develop backend business logic, application services, and integrations with modern AWS APIs and databases.
  • Design and optimize database queries and data access layers using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Produce clear technical documentation including system workflow logic, UI mockups, and API requirements.
  • Integrate custom-built components with enterprise web platforms and COTS tools.
  • Test, debug, and refine applications in an Agile environment to ensure reliability and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of relevant software development experience paired with a bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related), equivalent practical experience, or a coding bootcamp certification.
  • Solid proficiency in core web technologies (JavaScript/ES6+, HTML5, CSS3) with experience in Angular, modern JS frameworks, or Adobe ColdFusion.
  • Foundational understanding of relational databases (preferably MS SQL Server) and experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to collaborate directly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a NASA Public Trust or Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Understanding of RESTful Web Services and basic API integration.
  • Interest or experience building interactive dashboards and data visualization tools.
  • Passion for space exploration, finance, or mission-driven public service.
