Description

The Exhibit Electronics and AV Manager (EEAV Manager) oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all technical aspects of internal and external events, as well as traveling special exhibitions. Working closely with event leads, exhibit production, and rental clients, this role designs, produces, and delivers high-quality event and exhibit experiences while managing all electrical, lighting, audiovisual, and electronic requirements.


The EEAV Manager coordinates the installation of traveling exhibitions, collaborates on the fabrication of new exhibit electrical components, and serves at the museum's lighting designer for permanent and temporary exhibit spaces. This position also provides leadership for exhibit electronics staff, oversees technical operations and maintenance, and ensures all installations, productions, and events are completed safely, efficiently, and to Saint Louis Science Center production standards. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, installs, and operates large permanent and temporary A/V systems.
  • Implements and supervises safe rigging practices for installation staff.
  • Serves as live and recording audio engineer and post-production editor.
  • Inventories Exhibit Electronics A/V equipment and regulates scheduled maintenance and disposal practices.
  • Produces cost estimates and maintains project budgets and rental revenue accounts.
  • Creates scaled technical drawings for events and exhibit installs. 
  • Manages and monitors contractors and rental clients.
  • Mentors Exhibit Electronics technician staff during exhibit maintenance repairs and operations.
  • Supervises the fabrication and installation of new exhibit projects given to the Electronics staff.
  • Directs and coaches other staff when necessary to uphold high event show production quality.
  • Coordinates and schedules all exhibit gallery installs and all event setups.
  • Supervises scheduled exhibit maintenance and repairs.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience and education
  • 5-7 years of experience in live production field
  • Complete understanding of lighting, video, and audio control systems
  • Fluent with CAD software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires sitting, standing, and/or walking throughout the facility for extended periods of time on any workday. Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders; to work on lifts and high platforms; to bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; to pull/push, lift and carry up to 40 pounds; and to reach above and below shoulder height.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exhibit production shop environment. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Working in adverse weather conditions possible. Significant noise exposure associated with machinery, exhibits, and visitors. Full-time with occasional extended hours and/or weekend duties.
