Position Title: Millwright

Reports to: General Manager

Classification: Hourly

Department: Warehouse/Yard Workers

The successful candidate will be someone who is proactive and takes pride in addressing concerns before they become issues. Being able to diagnose issues and come up with a solution quickly is key. The ability to learn the machinery quickly is essential to being able to maintain productivity. The ability to work independently is key.


Purpose of Position: Assist customers in pulling their orders, inspecting the merchandise, and making returns. Pull orders from stock, loads orders onto delivery trucks, and unloads stock as it comes in. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.


Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Must successfully pass company-provided forklift operator training program and maintain "certification" through safe operation and following of procedures
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and policies
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies procedures (e.g., safety glasses, earplugs, face shields, etc.) to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
  • Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
  • Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools
  • Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
  • Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and schematics
  • Basic knowledge of truss production and associated machinery
  • Providing support in troubleshooting, repairing and making system improvements (optimization), to ensure quality and efficiencies within the department
  • Identifying root cause of equipment failures and follow-up on feasibility of modifications
  • Demonstrating a sense of urgency in achieving results
  • Performing preventative maintenance to defined schedules
  • Assisting and supporting in all other technical areas, where required
  • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe workshop and production lines 
  • Comply with specified company dress code
  • Assist supervisor, employees, and other work areas as needed
  • Attends staff, departmental meetings, and safety and health training, as required, on time
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Travels as required
  • Other duties as assigned



Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person unless they prove unable to perform them after receiving training and/or accommodations that the company judges appropriate).

  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment
  • Ability to assemble and install machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly
  • Ability to use specialized tools, such as welders or hydraulic bolters,
  • Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations
  • Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime
  • Must be able to configure and maintain maintenance programs for each individual piece of equipment
  • Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
  • Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
  • Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts. 
  • Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions
  • Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools, including reading a tape measure and using a hammer
  • Knowledge of electrical and electrical systems
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, as well as work alone
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English effectively
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to wear all applicable PPE
  •  License and ability to drive a company service van as needed  


Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull, maximum lift - 100 lbs.; frequently lift/carry - up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally


Experience and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. 
  •  Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • CDL license a plus

Work Conditions:

  • Works outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
  • Work with mechanical equipment daily
  • Work in areas with high noise levels
