Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components on solar construction projects.
  • Effective use of verbal and written communication – good interpersonal skills.
  • Always Work safely and promote safety to others around you.
  • Assist foremen in maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge and experience working with electrical systems in a solar construction (or similar) setting.
  • Perform quality work as determined by the project specifications.
  • Examine drawings and specifications for various work tasks and ensures current information is passed to other members of the crew.
  • Assist Foreman in scheduling crews according to available work packages for the project. *Provide written lists to the Foreman of all required equipment and materials necessary to complete the assigned task.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain solar panel systems, ensuring compliance with local electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Plan and oversee sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • A full understanding of electrical theory and circuits including the operation and function of typical electrical devices and machinery such as solenoids, relays, motors, transformers, switches, generators, and lighting systems.
  • A thorough knowledge of and proper use and installation of standard wire, cable, conduit, fittings, cable trays, and hardware commonly found in solar construction.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and system inspections to optimize performance and identify potential problems before they occur.
  • Coordinates work activities and installations with the installation team to assure productivity and to eliminate conflicts in the field.
  • Oversee project electrical team - Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience as an Electrician.
  • Master electrician license required.
  • Electrical experience in the construction industry, preferably solar.
  • Proven experience in electrical installations, including solar panel systems.
  • Strong math knowledge and skills as related to the job tasks. Able to add, subtract, multiple, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, safety protocols, and industry best practices to ensure electrical installation is per current applicable codes.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Ability to read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding drawings, lighting arrangements, panel drawings, and other specifications.
  • Knowledge and experience in all aspects of solar electrical installations such as high/medium/low voltage distribution, switchgear, DCS, PLCs and raceways above and below ground, cable tray, cable installation, and instrument installation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems.
