TITLE: Middle School Mathematics Teacher - 6th grade

TEMPORARY TEACHER - 26-27 School Year Only (replacing a Teacher on leave)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Valid Indiana teacher's license/Mathematics (grades 612)
2. Bachelor degree (Major in Mathematics preferred)
3. License in additional subject area desired, but not required
4. Coaching preferred, but not required
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable



REPORTS TO: Building Principal


JOB GOAL: To grow student achievement in mathematics by delivering standards-aligned instruction based on the Indiana Department of
Education academic standards and VCS curriculum maps, utilizing data to inform instructional decisions, and implementing engaging, evidence-based teaching practices. Support all students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, demonstrate measurable student growth through formative and summative assessments, and contribute to a collaborative professional learning environment that advances school-wide academic success.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaches the assigned curriculum to middle school pupils, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
2. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy.
4. Adapts Mathematics material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils.
5. Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing electronic equipment and other materials as appropriate.
6. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, including, but not limited to, interventions based on individual student and/or group need.
7. Administers or monitors group tests (i.e. ILEARN, etc).
8. Instructs pupils in safe operation of equipment used in instruction.
9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
10. Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
11. Communicates with parents, school counselors and other relevant school staff on pupil progress.
12. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
13. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
14. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
15. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
16. Maintains professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities.
17. Serves as a positive role model for students.
