Manufacturing Software Systems (MSS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer who will help solve a variety of technical challenges related to manufacturing the satellites, ground equipment and associated ASICs. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will tackle challenging, novel situations and will have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams spanning a variety of domains: software, hardware, networks, RF, embedded, real-time, distributed as well as industrial automation systems.
You will design and develop the manufacturing software used to drive the assembly, calibration and test of satellite and ground systems as well as perform high-throughput ASIC/chip level provisioning and testing. You will collaborate with teams from manufacturing engineering, product engineering, and security engineering to identify requirements and design manufacturing software. You will design and develop the end-to-end system capabilities required for manufacturing orchestration across factory production lines.

Key job responsibilities
- Build the manufacturing software systems used by production operations to manufacture the Leo's satellite fleet, supporting ground systems and associated ASICs
- Build the end-to-end system capabilities required for the orchestration of manufacturing across factory production lines
- Architect and design a secure manufacturing software system that protects Leo's intellectual property and manufacturing assets via a secure chain of custody/trust
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market
A day in the life
In this role as a Software Development Engineer, you will be developing Leo's secure manufacturing software systems and orchestration software capabilities. These products enable industrial automation for the manufacturing of the Leo satellite fleet and supporting ground equipment. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to develop, qualify, produce, and deploy solutions and products enabling Leo's global network.
About the team
The Leo Manufacturing Software team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of the software used to manufacture the Leo satellite fleet, ground equipment and ASICs. We partner with hardware, software, test engineering, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure efficient and secure manufacturing operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
