Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Software Developer works closely with a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain C# applications using Visual Studio for new and existing test and assembly machines and fixtures. This role is responsible for taking software projects from concept to completion, maintaining an Automated Work Instructions application, and developing new programs to drive efficiency and automation on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Software Development

  • Work independently to take software projects from concept to completion.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing Automated Work Instructions application written in C#.
  • Write C# programs for new and existing PC-based test and assembly fixtures.
  • Develop new software tools to improve efficiency and automation across general production.

Collaboration & Equipment Support

  • Work closely with the Controls Engineer to design and implement software solutions for manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing test and assembly equipment alongside the Controls Engineer.
  • Implement or recommend software and system changes based on troubleshooting findings.
  • Document software designs, code, and test procedures to support long-term maintainability.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline production floor processes.
  • Support validation and verification of software used in test and assembly fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in C# development using Visual Studio.
  • Ability to work independently, managing projects from initial concept through deployment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Must be a U.S. person (as defined under ITAR/EAR).
  • Position is onsite in Fort Wayne IN. Remote work not offered.

  • Familiarity with one or more communication protocols used in PC board and product testing:
  • USB

  • Experience with hardware-software integration or test fixture development.
  • Exposure to manufacturing execution systems (MES) or work instruction platforms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates primarily on the manufacturing floor and in a software development environment. The Manufacturing Software Developer is expected to be regularly present on the production floor to support equipment integration, troubleshooting, and testing. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
