The NC Department of Adult Correction continuously recruits for Temporary Licensed Practical Nurse positions and will accept applications regardless of whether there is a current vacancy. What You'll Do:

  • Providing routine care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, within a state correctional facility
  • Responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, within the scope of practice
  • Screening, observing and assessing patients
  • Providing basic wound care and personal care to patients
  • Delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering/interpreting TB skin tests
  • Observing and recording pertinent patient information
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician
