Department: Building & Grounds
Title: Building & Grounds Associate 
Location: New York Aquarium (Brooklyn)
Employment Type:Temporary/Seasonal 
Status: Non-Exempt 
Grade Level: Hourly 
Pay Range: $17/hour 
Reports To: Facilities Management/B & G Supervisor/ Team Leader 
Schedule: Four to five days a week; weekends and holidays required
Hours: All staff will work a fixed schedule, with shifts available between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
Position Summary:
The Building and Grounds Associate plays a key role in maintaining the New York Aquarium's campus, working as part of a large, dedicated team focused on keeping the Aquarium clean and welcoming. Each team member is responsible for a variety of tasks, including trash removal, vacuuming, window washing, sweeping, and maintaining the cleanliness of our planters, landscaping, and facilities throughout the campus
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the cleanliness of Aquarium exhibits, buildings, Aqua theater and grounds, including windows, garbage areas, and bathroom facilities.
  • Litter removal from our planters, parking lots and landscaping
  • Assist with seating guests during Aqua Theater shows and support operations during demonstrations.
  • Reporting needed repairs, damaged equipment and vandalism affecting exhibits.
  • Complete additional cleaning tasks and assist other team members as needed.
  • Set up and break down for Aquarium events, ensuring everything is ready and in order.
  • Provide exceptional guest service by maintaining a general knowledge of park attractions and amenities, answering inquiries, and ensuring a positive experience in line with WCS guest service standards.
