Northrop Grumman seeks a Field Engineer Air-Defense Specialist to implement and execute worldwide field-service operations that support the U.S. Army Integrated Fires Program Office.
Travel Requirements will exceed 75%
  • Support short-term missions (1-6 weeks) in NORTHCOM (CONUS) and in SOUTHCOM & PACOM (OCONUS).
  • Deploy for longer terms (6-12 months) to OCONUS locations such as AFRICOM, ARCENT, CENTCOM, and EUCOM.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, often with little or no notice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Sustain IAVA (Information Assurance Vulnerability Activity) requirements by continuously monitoring, assessing, and applying necessary security patches and mitigations to all field-deployed systems.
  • Install and configure Operations networks in field locations, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related infrastructure, according to approved architecture and standards.
  • Perform network sustainment tasks such as routine health checks, firmware updates, and configuration backups to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot network issues by diagnosing connectivity problems, latency, packet loss, and hardware failures; resolve issues onsite or coordinate with other contractor support as needed.
  • Document and report network status daily and after major events, generating concise technical reports, incident logs, and after-action reviews for leadership and customer stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with customers and internal teams to gather requirements, provide status updates, and validate that network installations meet mission-critical objectives.
  • Validate network security compliance and performance by conducting data collections and ensuring delivery to data analysis teams.
  • Maintain inventory of network assets in the field, ensuring accurate tracking of hardware, software licenses, and configuration baselines.
  • Support emergency and contingency operations by rapidly deploying temporary network solutions, establishing secure communications, and restoring services after disruptions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience or a high-school diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or a high-school diploma (or equivalent) with 9 years of experience.
  • Experience with software, hardware, IT, or networking.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, Huntsville, AL.
  • Familiarity with C-RAM, C-UAS, or IBCS architectures.
  • Ability to meet all pre-deployment medical and immunization standards.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
  • Experience supporting defense-system field testing (first-article, design-variation, or environmental).
  • Ability to pass the CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Air-defense experience in a 14-series MOS (or related field) at pay grade E-5 or higher.
  • Experience operating and administrating the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) Command and Control (C2) system.
  • Hands-on experience with ADAM Cell, AMDPCS FAAD Shelter, and/or Battery Command Post.
  • Signal/IT specialist experience in a 25-series MOS (or related field) at pay grade E-5 or higher.
  • CompTIA LPI Linux+ certification (or willingness to obtain it within 6 months of hire).
  • Strong networking knowledge, including the OSI model and network architecture.
  • Proven deployment experience as a field technical support specialist.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,400.00 - $108,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
