Job Summary
This position is in MINNCOR Industries at the Minnesota Correctional Facility - Faribault and provides direct supervision of Incarcerated Persons in an industrial setting involved with a diverse array of standards and custom laundry/linens work.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Hire, train and supervise Incarcerated Persons in various processes and procedures in the laundry and assembly areas so security and efficiency are maintained.
  • Perform all necessary machine set-ups for all production machinery in the various processing departments so finished products are produced efficiently and meet all quality standards.
  • Oversee the workflow so that a smooth, efficient and production flow is maintained.
  • Receive calls/meet with customers to provide technical support to maintain good customer relations.
  • Maintain security of tools, equipment, and personnel.
  • Maintain overall quality control in the laundry, so that all products meet the appropriate specifications as required.
  • Maintain inventory control and equipment maintenance so that supplies and equipment are available in the shop and that preventative maintenance is performed as specified by appropriate time frames.

This position has direct contact with individuals who are incarcerated.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position. To ensure accurate evaluation, your resume must clearly describe your experience in the required areas. For each job, include whether it was full-time, part-time, or intermittent/on-call; how many hours per week you worked; and the month and year you started and ended.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in an assembly setting.

Applicants meeting the above qualification(s) will be further assessed on the following:
  • Knowledge of training methods sufficient to explain and demonstrate work tasks to others so that they understand and learn their assigned jobs.
  • Skills in data entry using equipment such as a keyboard and computer.
  • Basic mathematics skills sufficient to estimate production costs, time and raw materials.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards sufficient to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) standards and fire and safety rules.
  • Oral communication skills sufficient to train, direct, and motivate workers and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other production areas, vendors, and customers.
  • Written communication skills sufficient to clearly and concisely complete instructions and reports.

Preferred Qualifications
• The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
  • Experience supervising incarcerated individuals.
  • Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or production machines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Epicor ERP solution software and OnBase.
  • Experience with inventory control processes, quality assurance, and piece/parts inspection.
  • Experience with material handling equipment sufficient to operate forklifts, scales, and pallet jackets.
  • Experience working directly with customers in addressing timelines, due dates, problem solving, and instruction issues .

Physical Requirements
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening. Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) does not participate in E-Verify. The DOC will not sponsor applicants for work visas, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
