Temporary Leasing Agent Commission information

What is the difference between Temporary Leasing Agent Commission vs Leasing Consultant Commission?

AspectTemporary Leasing Agent CommissionLeasing Consultant Commission
CredentialsReal estate license often requiredReal estate license often required
Work EnvironmentTemporary assignments, short-term projectsLong-term employment at property complexes
Employer & Industry UsageProperty management companies, leasing agenciesProperty management firms, apartment communities
Commission StructureTypically higher per deal, variable based on contractConsistent commission, often a percentage of rent or lease value

Temporary Leasing Agent Commission refers to short-term, contract-based roles with variable pay, while Leasing Consultant Commission usually involves ongoing employment with steady commission structures. Both roles focus on leasing properties but differ in duration and payment structure.

How does commission work in leasing as a temporary leasing agent?

Temporary leasing agents typically earn commission based on a percentage of the rent or lease value for each unit they lease. Commissions are often paid after the tenant signs the lease and may be supplemented with bonuses for meeting leasing targets or filling vacancies quickly. The specific structure varies by employer and lease agreement terms.

Where do temporary leasing agents make the most money?

Temporary leasing agents tend to earn higher commissions in markets with high rental demand and property values, such as major metropolitan areas. Earnings are also influenced by the complexity of properties managed and the commission structure, which often includes a percentage of the rent or a flat fee per lease signed.

Why is it so hard to get a temporary leasing agent job?

Temporary leasing agent positions can be competitive due to high demand for customer service and sales skills, as well as the need for relevant experience and certifications like Fair Housing training. Employers often prefer candidates with strong communication abilities, familiarity with property management software, and flexible schedules, which can limit opportunities for newcomers. Additionally, the temporary nature of the role may lead to fewer openings compared to permanent positions.
