Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU Transport position requiring both OR and WA/Compact RN licensure along with flight and/or mobile transfer experience.

Details
  • Work with a specialized NICU Transport team based out of a children's hospital, transporting neonatal and pediatric patients from outside facilities requiring higher levels of care
  • Transport team consists of one RN and one RT per shift, guided by a physician
  • Transports patients via ground, fixed-wing, or rotor-wing aircraft throughout Oregon and SW Washington
  • Primarily transports patients to the home facility, with additional transport support for partner facility and coverage for another hospital's transport team when unavailable
  • Flight training is included as part of orientation through a contracted vendor
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 18:30-7:00
  • Weekend requirement: minimum of every 3rd weekend, with occasional additional weekend shifts as needed for schedule balancing
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active OR RN license and WA/Compact RN license required prior to start (temporary Oregon license available upon request if needed)
  • BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a fully oriented, working neonatal/pediatric transport RN with strong NICU/PICU skills
  • Prior flight and/or mobile transfer experience required for interview consideration
  • 2+ years of pediatric transport experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Strong respiratory skills required, including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, ABG interpretation, and airway care
  • Experience with emergency medications including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation
  • IV therapy skills including arterial line and central line management
  • Experience with intubation assistance and UVC/UAC placement
  • Cardiovascular skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • No felony convictions
Additional Information
  • Respond to activation calls to transport critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients from outside facilities
  • Complete flight training as part of orientation through the facility's contracted training vendor
  • Scrubs provided for pediatric transport role
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of any facility location within the health system
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility/system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
