Work Unit Overview:  
The Forestry Division Office manages all statewide business and fiscal operations; provides budget management services to all Forestry Division programs; plans, develops and maintains the 185-acre Forestry Division Main Complex; manages the statewide Long-Range Building Program, and carries out statutory and legislative responsibilities affecting all business functions within the Division.

Job Overview:  
This position serves as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Forestry Division.  The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing a wide variety of maintenance, repair, replacement, construction, and preventative maintenance activities involving building systems and grounds.  This includes a diverse campus infrastructure featuring multiple office sites, tool and equipment shops, greenhouses, parking lots, open and cultivated grounds, and more.  The position is also responsible for planning and maintaining effective facilities maintenance operations and performing a variety of other duties as assigned.  The position reports to the Business Operations Supervisor.

Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities):  These job functions are the essential duties of the position and are not all-inclusive of all the duties that may be assigned to the incumbent.

Building and Grounds Maintenance and Project Management (55% of time)

Responsible for planning, coordinating, performing, and overseeing building and grounds maintenance; managing contractors and projects; ensuring safety and regulatory compliance; controlling resources and costs; and maintaining accurate operational records.
Facilities Maintenance Operations (35% of time)

Focuses on improving maintenance operations, coordinating resources, providing technical expertise for facility projects, evaluating system upgrades, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Supervision and Oversight (5% of time)

Directly supervises temporary maintenance workers if they are needed at various times throughout the year by creating, reviewing, revising and retaining overall work plans, priorities, and procedures and monitoring progress through meetings and consultations.  Conducts staff meetings, disseminates data, and promotes information exchange for support and advancement of Bureau and Division goals. Provides daily guidance and direction to temporary maintenance workers, contractors or maintenance and painting crews by reviewing and negotiating work plans, establishing priorities, monitoring and reviewing work, and providing input about performance.

Supervision:
This position does not supervise any permanent FTE but would supervise temporary workers and any general contractors hired for on-site maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of technical training or certification courses plus three years of relevant experience, including one year of project or personnel management experience.  Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.

• 2-year job related college or vocational training
• 3-4 years job-related work experience
• Obtain DEQ Class 4 AB Drinking Water Operator Certification within the first 6-9 months of employment and complete continuing education requirements

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge: This position requires knowledge of facilities project planning and management, quality assurance procedures, and State and federal building construction and maintenance standards (e.g. OSHA regulations, DEQ requirements for water system, building codes, ADA requirements, etc.).  The position also requires knowledge of one or more of the following trade/technical areas:  electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, engineering, machine/mechanics, or property management.  A general knowledge of contract coordination building design, and supervisory policies and procedures is also required.  

Skills & Abilities:  This position requires skills and abilities in the safe and effective operation of power tools, maintenance equipment, and industrial chemicals (e.g. refrigerants, solvents, etc.); diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, electronic, and structural problems; operating personal computers, and communicating with individuals of various technical levels.
