What is a temporary IT?

Temporary IT jobs are short-term positions in the information technology field, typically filled to cover peak workloads, special projects, or employee absences. These roles can range from technical support and helpdesk assistance to software development or network administration. Temporary IT professionals are usually hired through staffing agencies or directly by companies, and contracts can last from a few days to several months. These jobs offer flexibility and valuable experience, making them ideal for those seeking to build their skills or looking for interim work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary IT professional?

To thrive as a Temporary IT Professional, you need a solid understanding of computer hardware, software troubleshooting, and basic networking, often supported by a degree in IT or related certifications like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote support tools, and common operating systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and clear communication set top candidates apart in fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities ensure quick and effective technical support, minimizing downtime and supporting business continuity.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in temporary IT roles, and how can they overcome them?

In temporary IT positions, professionals often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new systems, processes, and teams. Because assignments are short-term, there may be limited onboarding, requiring candidates to rapidly familiarize themselves with company-specific technologies and workflows. Successful temporary IT staff are proactive in asking questions, take advantage of available documentation, and prioritize clear communication with both technical and non-technical team members. Building strong relationships early on and demonstrating flexibility can also help integrate more smoothly and make a positive impact during the assignment.

Job description

We are seeking a disciplined, proactive, and highly organized Mid-Level IT Project Manager to lead critical initiatives within our Cybersecurity portfolio. This role is designed for a driver-someone who thrives in structured environments, excels at clear communication, and possesses the professional assertiveness to keep technical projects moving forward.
While you don't need to be a security engineer, you must be able to "speak the language" of IT to effectively translate technical updates into actionable project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Project Governance: Manage a portfolio of 3-5 concurrent projects, ensuring all milestones are met within defined scope and capacity.
Rigorous Documentation: Maintain high standards for project health through the consistent use of RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), decision logs, and weekly status reports.
Facilitation & Leadership: Lead efficient meetings with clear agendas, strict time management, and immediate capture of action items and decisions.
Risk Management: Proactively identify potential bottlenecks; provide transparent "At-Risk" and "Off-Track" communications to leadership to ensure timely resolution.
Financial & Performance Reporting: Run weekly project and financial reports (internal systems training provided) to ensure fiscal accountability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Navigate ambiguity by driving team momentum, removing blockers, and coordinating across remote teams with professional courtesy and punctuality.
Qualifications & Experience
Education/Experience: A Bachelor's Degree OR at least 4 years of professional experience in a Healthcare and/or Information Technology (IT) environment.
Schedule: Must be able to work and align with Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
Technical Literacy: Prior exposure to Security or Infrastructure projects is preferred; you must be comfortable participating in and documenting technical IT conversations.
Process Oriented: A strong preference for working within established standards and methodologies.
Tool Proficiency: Experience with PPM (Project Portfolio Management) tools and Azure DevOps (ADO) is a plus, though we are willing to train candidates who possess the right mindset and organizational skills.
The Ideal Candidate
The "Driver": You don't wait for permission to schedule a meeting or follow up on a task; you move the needle daily.
The Communicator: You provide brevity and clarity in your writing and are comfortable presenting to stakeholders.
The Professional: You model excellence in a remote environment, from camera etiquette to respectful, assertive collaboration.
The Adaptable Multi-tasker: You can pivot between different project priorities without losing sight of the details. Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected Veterans
