$18–$20 per hour | Lancaster, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7AM–3PM
Position Overview
RFK Community Alliance is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian/Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School. This temporary position is responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of academic buildings, dormitories, administrative offices, and shared spaces. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and is committed to creating a safe and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position also participates in the organization's on-call rotation as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, dormitories, offices, and common areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks to ensure buildings remain safe, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Identify and report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Prioritize daily assignments and complete tasks efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and promptly report potential hazards.
  • Safely operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to supervisors.
  • Respond to changing priorities and support cleaning needs across school, residential, and administrative settings.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Work collaboratively with team members while also managing responsibilities independently.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of custodial, housekeeping, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in a school, residential, healthcare, or institutional setting preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to perform physical work and maintain professional cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management skills.
