Job Title: Metal Cutter & Rail Assembly

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Status: Full-Time

Shift: 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:00 PM

Location: Brooklyn Center, MN

Pay Rate: $19.00–$20.00/hour

Our client is a growing manufacturer specializing in custom metal railings and decking systems. Their hands-on, team-oriented production environment emphasizes quality craftsmanship and cross-training, giving employees opportunities to develop new skills and grow within the organization.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Metal Cutter & Rail Assembly team member to support metal fabrication and assembly operations. This position involves cutting metal materials, assembling railing components, using hand and power tools, and ensuring finished products meet established quality standards.

Employees begin in a designated department and have the opportunity to cross-train in both cutting and assembly after becoming fully trained. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable using tools, and able to accurately follow instructions, measurements, and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate large table saws and other equipment to cut metal railing and decking materials.
  • Assemble metal railing components according to work instructions and specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools, including impact drills, hand drills, angle grinders, miter saws, and sanders.
  • Read and follow written instructions, blueprints, measurements, and specifications accurately.
  • Measure materials using a tape measure and perform basic calculations involving fractions.
  • Learn multiple product variations, cutting requirements, and assembly methods.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and proper fit.
  • Cross-train between cutting and assembly operations once fully trained.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow established safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
  • Take direction from supervisors and team leads.
  • Assist with additional production and fabrication responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, cutting, or assembly experience preferred.
  • Experience using basic manufacturing tools such as impact drills, hand drills, angle grinders, miter saws, and sanders.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to work with fractions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn multiple production processes.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Steel-toe boots required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.
  • Ability to stand and bend throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Hands-on manufacturing and metal fabrication environment.
  • Regular exposure to machinery, metal materials, power tools, and moderate noise.
  • Frequent standing, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive movement throughout the workday.
  • Regular use of saws, drills, grinders, sanders, and other production equipment.
  • Required use of steel-toe boots and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must follow established safety procedures while working around machinery and fabrication equipment.
