Job Description:

This is a temporary full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with an 11-month work schedule.
JOB DUTIES: Perform skilled carpentry work and general maintenance at Game and Parks facilities throughout E. T. Mahoney State Park including Venture park amenities. Assist with snow removal. Work on all types of structures repairing floors, roofs, windows, doors, walls, foundations, stairs, and sidewalks. After the repair work is completed, perform skilled work to complete interior finish of buildings; insulate walls, ceilings, and floors; hang, and finish drywall; build and install cabinets; install hardware; paint, stain, and seal interior wood work and cabinets. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to prepare detailed material list with quantity and quality needed to complete each project. Clean, maintain and repair all tools and equipment used in the performance of assigned tasks. Schedule and perform specialized preventative maintenance and repairs equipment. Perform related work as required.


Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.

Other: Driver's license is required.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of advanced methods, practices, tools and equipment used in building trades, maintenance and repair work. Ability to perform skilled work in the carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades; determine the materials and equipment necessary to repair building structures, equipment and fixtures, HVAC and mechanical systems, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, layout designs and specifications; work under temperature extremes (hot and cold); lift and move objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds; work in wet and dirty environments fixing water lines, sewer pumps, etc; work in cramped work spaces, above and below ground level; operate tools and equipment with sufficient manual dexterity as required to perform duties described above. Successful applicant must be available to work any shift as scheduled or in event of emergency.
